Rubric Rater Severity Supplied Offset Tool

Apply a supplied additive severity correction; this does not estimate a rater model.

Description

Add severityOffset; optionally clamp to [floor, ceiling].

Scoring rules combine points, item weights, boundaries and policies for omission, extra credit or missing items. A computed mark is meaningful only under those explicit rules; applying a rule does not establish its fairness or official status.

Add severityOffset; optionally clamp to [floor, ceiling].

When to use this tool

Use Rubric Rater Severity Supplied Offset when checking one supplied scoring contribution or policy boundary.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter rawScore, severityOffset, floor, ceiling, clamp. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read adjusted, wasClamped. Inspect wasClamped before interpreting the associated values.

Require ceiling > floor and rawScore within those bounds. Add severityOffset; optionally clamp to [floor, ceiling]. wasClamped is true only when clamping is enabled and the shifted value lies outside the bounds.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The severity offset is supplied, not estimated from raters. Without clamping adjusted values can exceed the scale; this is not a fairness or reliability analysis.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete approved rubric and score record for an official outcome, and examine measurement quality separately.
