Description
score = lowScore+(level-lowLevel)*(highScore-lowScore)/(highLevel-lowLevel).
Numeric score transformations can reverse a scale, map anchors or change its mean and standard deviation. Such arithmetic does not establish equal category spacing, comparable constructs or statistical equating between assessments.
score = lowScore+(level-lowLevel)*(highScore-lowScore)/(highLevel-lowLevel).
When to use this tool
Use Rubric Level Linear Anchor Map when checking an explicit scale or anchor transformation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter level, lowLevel, highLevel, lowScore, highScore. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read score. Use the output convention below.
Require lowLevel < highLevel and level within that interval. score = lowScore+(level-lowLevel)*(highScore-lowScore)/(highLevel-lowLevel).1

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes linear interpolation between numeric rubric anchors. Score anchors may descend; ordinal rubric meaning or equal spacing is not independently validated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use appropriate measurement validation or equating methods before treating transformed scales as interchangeable.
