Description
minutesPerMark = (minutes-reserveMinutes)/marks.
Educational time and material budgets need explicit working time, pauses, transitions, capacity and rate conventions. A numerical schedule allocation is a planning aid, not a validated recommendation for learning pace or an automatically feasible timetable.
minutesPerMark = (minutes-reserveMinutes)/marks.
When to use this tool
Use Exam Section Time Per Mark when checking a supplied teaching, study or assessment-resource budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter minutes, marks, reserveMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read minutesPerMark. Use the output convention below.
Require positive marks, nonnegative reserveMinutes and minutes >= reserveMinutes. minutesPerMark = (minutes-reserveMinutes)/marks.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| minutes | Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| marks | Marks | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| reserveMinutes | Reserve Minutes | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| minutesPerMark | Minutes Per Mark | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This evenly distributes available working time per mark. It does not account for varying difficulty, accommodations or an actual exam timing requirement.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the actual timetable, resources, learner needs and approved policies to assess a practical plan.
