Real Income Deflator Share Tool

Calculate real income deflator share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

realIncome = nominalIncome*deflatorBase/deflator.

Economic value comparisons need a common currency, period, quantity basis and definition of the relevant benefit or cost. A purchasing-power ratio, surplus segment or external-cost identity is only a contribution to a broader valuation.

realIncome = nominalIncome*deflatorBase/deflator.

When to use this tool

Use Real Income Deflator Share when checking a declared price, benefit or cost comparison.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter nominalIncome, deflator, deflatorBase. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read realIncome. Use the output convention below.

Require positive deflator and deflatorBase. realIncome = nominalIncome*deflatorBase/deflator.1

A real-value comparison adjusts a nominal value using an appropriate price index. Index selection and comparability remain separate from the arithmetic.2

Limitations and assumptions

  • Indexes must use compatible conventions, such as base 100. This rebases a supplied monetary amount without selecting an index, quality adjustment or individual purchasing-power interpretation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods
