Archival Trade Quantity Share Tool

Calculate archival trade quantity share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Calculate verified trade-quantity support after converting all records to a common supplied unit.

Archival comparability and coverage depend on source labels, time boundaries, verification assertions and common-unit conversions. Matching text or balanced totals can support record review without authenticating sources or proving completeness.

Calculate verified trade-quantity support after converting all records to a common supplied unit.

When to use this tool

Use Archival Trade Quantity Share when checking a supplied archival record or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter quantities, unitToCommon, verified. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalCommonQuantity, verifiedCommonQuantity, verifiedShare, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require equally long quantities, unitToCommon and verified arrays, nonnegative quantities and positive conversion factors. Sum quantity*factor into totalCommonQuantity and verified records into verifiedCommonQuantity; verifiedShare is their ratio, or zero with defined = false for zero total.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Verification flags and conversion factors are supplied. Common-unit quantity share is not monetary trade share, source authenticity or proof of complete archival coverage.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original sources and document the historical meaning of labels, dates and conversion factors.
