Description
Classify radial membership with explicit annulus boundary inclusion.
Radial geometry distinguishes a solid region from its boundary. A point inside a ball has zero distance to the solid, while its signed boundary gap is negative and its absolute boundary distance can be positive.
Classify radial membership with explicit annulus boundary inclusion.
When to use this tool
Use Annulus Boundary Inside Outside Token when checking a supplied radial boundary or solid-region convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter distance, inner, outer, includeInner, includeOuter. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read location. Use the output convention below.
Classify radial membership with explicit annulus boundary inclusion. Require distance >= 0 and 0 <= inner <= outer; identify hole, outside, interior or excluded inner/outer boundary.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| distance | Distance | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| inner | Inner | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| outer | Outer | Required. Finite number. |
| includeInner | Include Inner | Required. Boolean. |
| includeOuter | Include Outer | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| location | At coincident radii, either missing inclusion flag yields excluded-inner-boundary; inner-edge classification has precedence. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- When radii coincide, membership at that radius requires both inclusion flags.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use full point and shape geometry when a radius or center distance has not already been established.
