Infant Looking Recovery Baseline Term Tool

Looking-time recovery relative to an explicit observed habituation drop; values over one indicate overshoot.

Description

Return looking-time recovery relative to habituation drop.

Developmental research scores can be expressed as changes, ratios, reversed scales or contrasts between conditions. Those arithmetic forms have distinct denominators and need a suitable measurement model before they support psychological interpretation.

Return looking-time recovery relative to habituation drop.

When to use this tool

Use Infant Looking Recovery Baseline Term when checking a supplied score or response contrast.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter baselineLooking, habituatedLooking, recoveryLooking. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read habituationDrop, recoveredLooking, recoveryFraction. Use the output convention below.

Return looking-time recovery relative to habituation drop. Require baselineLooking > habituatedLooking >= 0 and recoveryLooking >= 0; divide recovery-habituated by baseline-habituated and return both differences.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The recovery fraction may be negative or above one; no habituation mechanism is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated instruments, an appropriate study design and professional assessment when interpreting individual development or cognitive function.
