Description

Compare two bounded caregiver ratings.

Developmental research scores can be expressed as changes, ratios, reversed scales or contrasts between conditions. Those arithmetic forms have distinct denominators and need a suitable measurement model before they support psychological interpretation.

Compare two bounded caregiver ratings.

When to use this tool

Use Caregiver Report Disagreement One Item when checking a supplied score or response contrast.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstRating, secondRating, scaleMinimum, scaleMaximum. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedDifference, absoluteDifference, rangeNormalizedDifference. Use the output convention below.

Compare two bounded caregiver ratings. Require positive scale width and ratings within it; signedDifference = second-first, absoluteDifference its magnitude, and rangeNormalizedDifference divides by scale width.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Ordinal numerical differences do not establish equal psychological intervals or clinical disagreement significance.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated instruments, an appropriate study design and professional assessment when interpreting individual development or cognitive function.
