Description
Convert one image coordinate to a physical coordinate.
Microscopy coordinates require scale, origin, orientation and often optical correction. A normalized landmark coordinate or refractive-index ratio is one geometric term rather than a complete image registration or validated biological measurement.
Convert one image coordinate to a physical coordinate.
When to use this tool
Use Embryo Image Coordinate Scale when checking a supplied developmental-image coordinate transformation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter pixelCoordinate, pixelOrigin, unitsPerPixel, physicalOrigin. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read physicalCoordinate. Use the output convention below.
Convert one image coordinate to a physical coordinate. Require unitsPerPixel > 0; physicalCoordinate = physicalOrigin+(pixelCoordinate-pixelOrigin)*unitsPerPixel.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| pixelCoordinate | Pixel Coordinate | Required. Finite number. |
| pixelOrigin | Pixel Origin | Required. Finite number. |
| unitsPerPixel | Units Per Pixel | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| physicalOrigin | Physical Origin | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| physicalCoordinate | Physical Coordinate | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The scale and origins are supplied; no image features or biological location are detected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated imaging and suitable full shape or optical models when geometry and measurement accuracy matter.
