Cell Division Angle Wrap

Wrap an explicit division-orientation angle under a caller-selected axial 180° or directed 360° convention without inferring polarity.

Description

Wrap a supplied division angle under axial or directed orientation.

Developmental measurements depend on specimen identity, staging sources, coordinate registration, image scale and time-zero conventions. A section-area fraction differs from a volume, a generation-number step differs from verified lineage, and a midpoint of observations differs from an exact event time. Local scalar terms do not infer developmental mechanisms.

Wrap a supplied division angle under axial or directed orientation.

When to use this tool

Use Cell Division Angle Wrap when you already have angleDegrees, axialOrientation and need to wrap a supplied division angle under axial or directed orientation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter angleDegrees, axialOrientation. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read wrappedDegrees. Use the output convention below.

Use period 180 degrees for axialOrientation=true or 360 otherwise; reduce modulo period and add period to negative remainders.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
angleDegreesAngle DegreesRequired. Finite number.
axialOrientationTrue uses a 180-degree period for undirected axes; false uses a directed 360-degree period.Required. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
wrappedDegreesWrapped DegreesRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Axial orientation identifies directions a half-turn apart. No image, division plane, reference axis or biological orientation is determined; numeric signed zero is exported as zero.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original specimens, calibrated images, acquisition timelines and staging references for biological interpretation. Use complete image, lineage and experimental analyses when needed; local ratios, source-qualified labels and supplied coordinate arithmetic do not perform those analyses.
