Skin Image Color Card Neutral Offset Tool

Calculate one supplied skin-image neutral-card channel residual without color correction or diagnostic interpretation.

Description

Calculate a supplied color-card channel offset.

Dermatology records distinguish specimen sites, image permissions, orientation, scale references, area models and observation states. Full ellipse axes differ from radii, and rectangular area estimates need not match a lesion or wound. Supplied labels and scalar image measurements do not establish clinical findings or appropriate care.

Calculate a supplied color-card channel offset.

When to use this tool

Use Skin Image Color Card Neutral Offset when you already have referenceChannel, measuredChannel and need to calculate a supplied color-card channel offset.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter referenceChannel, measuredChannel. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return measuredChannel-referenceChannel with signs preserved.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
referenceChannelReference ChannelRequired. Finite number.
measuredChannelMeasured ChannelRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
signedGapSigned GapRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Channel units and encoding must match. A scalar offset is not full color calibration, illumination correction, skin-color measurement or diagnosis.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original clinical, specimen and image records with verified calibration and consent context. Use the complete appropriate assessment for interpretation; local geometry, display labels and reporting conventions do not identify a lesion, diagnose disease or choose treatment.
