Description
Split a supplied biopsy-location token into site and laterality.
Dermatology records distinguish specimen sites, image permissions, orientation, scale references, area models and observation states. Full ellipse axes differ from radii, and rectangular area estimates need not match a lesion or wound. Supplied labels and scalar image measurements do not establish clinical findings or appropriate care.
Split a supplied biopsy-location token into site and laterality.
When to use this tool
Use Parser Skin Biopsy Location Token when you already have token, separator and need to split a supplied biopsy-location token into site and laterality.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter token, separator. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read site, laterality. Use the output convention below.
Require separator nonempty; split literally and require exactly two nonempty parts, returned unchanged as site and laterality.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| token | Token | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| separator | Nonempty literal substring; JavaScript nonoverlapping split must yield exactly two nonempty parts. | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| site | Site | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| laterality | Laterality | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"token": "forearm|left",
"separator": "|"
},
"output": {
"site": "forearm",
"laterality": "left"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- No trimming, escaping or anatomical/laterality vocabulary validation is applied. More than two nonoverlapping split parts or empty parts cause rejection; no provenance is checked.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original clinical, specimen and image records with verified calibration and consent context. Use the complete appropriate assessment for interpretation; local geometry, display labels and reporting conventions do not identify a lesion, diagnose disease or choose treatment.
