Gingival Site Missing Vs Zero Label

Distinguish an unassessed gingival site from an observed numeric zero without interpreting a periodontal measure.

Description

Distinguish an unassessed site from recorded zero and nonzero values.

Dental records depend on surface notation, assessed and excluded denominators, missing versus observed zero, reporting quanta and recorded equipment dates. Calendar-day counts can be elapsed or inclusive, and nominal expiry comparisons do not establish sterility. Local surface fractions and source labels are not automatically validated clinical indices.

Distinguish an unassessed site from recorded zero and nonzero values.

When to use this tool

Use Gingival Site Missing Vs Zero Label when you already have assessed, recordedValue and need to distinguish an unassessed site from recorded zero and nonzero values.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter assessed, recordedValue. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read status. Use the output convention below.

Return missing when assessed=false; otherwise observed-zero if recordedValue===0, else observed-nonzero.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
assessedFalse returns missing regardless of recordedValue; the numeric value is not rejected solely for being supplied.Required. Boolean.
recordedValueRecorded ValueRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • An unassessed record ignores the supplied numeric value. Signed nonzero values are accepted; no site measurement, validity, severity or missing-value imputation is performed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use original chart, observation and reprocessing records with the complete scoring or controlled workflow. Keep denominator, missingness and date conventions explicit; local arithmetic does not determine oral-health status, appropriate recall intervals or readiness for care.
