Description

Apply a supplied indexation rate to an opening pension benefit.

Demographic economic terms depend on age-window boundaries, population scope, household equivalence units and supplied fiscal assumptions. A worker-share change is not an estimated demographic dividend, and endpoint survivors times duration differ from integrated life-table person-years. Local pension or subsidy calculations do not determine actual eligibility or entitlement.

Apply a supplied indexation rate to an opening pension benefit.

When to use this tool

Use Pension Benefit Indexation Period when you already have openingBenefit, suppliedIndexationRate and need to apply a supplied indexation rate to an opening pension benefit.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter openingBenefit, suppliedIndexationRate. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read indexedBenefit, change. Use the output convention below.

Require openingBenefit>=0 and rate>=-1; indexed=opening*(1+rate), change=opening*rate.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The rate is a decimal fraction and may exceed one. No applicable index, cap, lag, rounding, actual entitlement or payment is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete population, cohort, labor and fiscal records with the chosen equivalence and exposure definitions. Review applicable benefit rules and estimate the appropriate model for policy analysis; one supplied allocation or accounting ratio does not establish behavior or economic effects.
