Description
Compare equivalized household income with a supplied threshold.
Demographic economic terms combine population, monetary flows, taxes and discount conventions. A local cohort contribution or supplied income comparison is not a complete fiscal projection, benefit entitlement or individual financial forecast.
Compare equivalized household income with a supplied threshold.
When to use this tool
Use Household Eqscale Threshold Gap when checking one declared cohort financial or fiscal contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter householdIncome, suppliedScale, thresholdPerEquivalent. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read equivalentIncome, gap. Use the output convention below.
Compare equivalized household income with a supplied threshold. Require suppliedScale > 0; equivalentIncome = householdIncome/scale and gap subtracts thresholdPerEquivalent.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| householdIncome | Household Income | Required. Finite number. |
| suppliedScale | Supplied Scale | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| thresholdPerEquivalent | Threshold Per Equivalent | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| equivalentIncome | Equivalent Income | Required. Finite number. |
| gap | Gap | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Signed income is allowed; no poverty threshold, official scale or support eligibility is selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use complete population accounts, applicable policy and justified economic assumptions before making financial or public-policy decisions.
