Demographic Dividend Worker Share Change Tool

Compare explicit worker shares of two supplied populations without estimating a causal demographic dividend.

Description

Compare supplied worker shares of two populations.

Demographic economic terms depend on age-window boundaries, population scope, household equivalence units and supplied fiscal assumptions. A worker-share change is not an estimated demographic dividend, and endpoint survivors times duration differ from integrated life-table person-years. Local pension or subsidy calculations do not determine actual eligibility or entitlement.

Compare supplied worker shares of two populations.

When to use this tool

Use Demographic Dividend Worker Share Change when you already have initialWorkers, initialPopulation, finalWorkers, finalPopulation and need to compare supplied worker shares of two populations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initialWorkers, initialPopulation, finalWorkers, finalPopulation. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read initialWorkerShare, finalWorkerShare, shareChange. Use the output convention below.

Require both populations positive/finite and worker amounts within their corresponding totals; return each worker/population fraction and final-initial.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Counts may be fractional. Change is a decimal share difference, not percentage growth or an estimated demographic dividend or causal economic effect.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete population, cohort, labor and fiscal records with the chosen equivalence and exposure definitions. Review applicable benefit rules and estimate the appropriate model for policy analysis; one supplied allocation or accounting ratio does not establish behavior or economic effects.
