Decoding: Base64 Alphabet Symbol Value Tool

Resolve one RFC4648 Base64/Base64url data symbol to its six-bit value under an explicit alphabet, excluding equals padding.

Description

Return a Base64 or Base64url symbol's value.

Encoded representations separate alphabet symbols, numerical digit values, byte grouping and tail padding. Recognizing one symbol or pad-bit pattern is not full payload decoding, and different alphabet variants can assign different values.

Return a Base64 or Base64url symbol's value.

When to use this tool

Use Decoding: Base64 Alphabet Symbol Value when inspecting one stated alphabet, group or padding component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter symbol, alphabet. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Return a Base64 or Base64url symbol's value. Require alphabet standard or url and one recognized symbol; return its index in the selected 64-character alphabet.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

resultReturned object; expand its named members below.Required. Object.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Padding is not a data symbol; no sextet assembly or complete payload validation occurs.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete codec matching the required alphabet and canonicality rules for real encoded data.
