Hash Bucket Sign Collision Term Tool

Feature-hashing collision contribution; combined value is unused when supplied buckets differ.

Loading tool…

Description

Return signed same-bucket combination and squared-sum cross term.

Weights, hash collisions and regression diagnostics have estimator-specific meanings. A local count, signed contribution or residual scaling can be calculated from supplied inputs without establishing sampling validity or model quality.

Return signed same-bucket combination and squared-sum cross term.

When to use this tool

Use Hash Bucket Sign Collision Term when checking the stated weight, hash or diagnostic contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstValue, secondValue, firstSign, secondSign, sameBucket. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read combinedBucketValue, crossTerm. Use the output convention below.

Return signed same-bucket combination and squared-sum cross term. Require each sign exactly ±1; when sameBucket, combine signed values and crossTerm = 2*s1*s2*v1*v2, otherwise both outputs are zero.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
firstValueFirst ValueRequired. Finite number.
secondValueSecond ValueRequired. Finite number.
firstSignFirst SignRequired. Safe integer.
secondSignSecond SignRequired. Safe integer.
sameBucketCaller assertion that both features collide; false returns zero contribution placeholders.Required. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
combinedBucketValueCombined Bucket ValueRequired. Finite number.
crossTerm2*firstValue*firstSign*secondValue*secondSign for a collision, otherwise zero.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • A zero result for different buckets is a local sentinel, not their separate bucket values or a full collision audit.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete estimator or feature pipeline and justified assumptions to assess statistical impact, uncertainty and model behavior.
