Cybernetics: Controller Integrator Clamp Delta Tool

Apply one bounded integrator clamping step and expose accepted/rejected increments; no closed-loop stability, anti-windup tuning or hardware I/O.

Description

Clamp one requested integrator increment and split accepted/rejected parts.

Controller calculations combine state, gain, error and reset conventions. A one-step update or output-balance target describes one part of a controller and does not implement, tune or establish the stability of a complete plant-control loop.

Clamp one requested integrator increment and split accepted/rejected parts.

When to use this tool

Use Cybernetics: Controller Integrator Clamp Delta when checking one explicit controller-state or term update.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter integrator, requestedIncrement, lower, upper. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Clamp one requested integrator increment and split accepted/rejected parts. Require ordered bounds and current integrator inside them; clamp integral+request, then subtract the old state and accepted amount.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Rejected increment may be signed; this local saturation rule is not a complete antiwindup or safety strategy.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the full controller and plant model, numerical implementation and qualified verification for actual operation or transitions.
