URL Domain Extract Per Cell
Extract normalized hostnames from absolute HTTP or HTTPS URL cells using the URL Standard; hostnames include subdomains and are not registrable-domain guesses.
Description
A URL hostname includes its subdomains and differs from a registrable domain.
A URL hostname includes its subdomains and differs from a registrable domain. URL parsing also normalizes host spelling according to the URL Standard.1

When to use URL Domain Extract Per Cell
Use this for the following task: Extract normalized hostnames from absolute HTTP or HTTPS URL cells using the URL Standard; hostnames include subdomains and are not registrable-domain guesses.
Prepare the CSV text, decoded cells or byte values requested below. Choose delimiter and header flags explicitly when those fields are present.
How to use URL Domain Extract Per Cell and understand its results
- Prepare the CSV text, decoded cells or byte values requested below. Choose delimiter and header flags explicitly when those fields are present.
- Enter values using the field table, then run the tool.
- Read hostnames. Interpret flags, units, ordering and placeholder values using the rules below.
- Review any reported issue or failed check, correct the supplied values when appropriate, and verify the result in its intended context.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type and bounds | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| values | Values | list of string; minimum entries 0; maximum entries 10000; each entry: string; maximum text length 10000 | Required |
Supply decoded cell values, trim outer whitespace and parse each as an absolute URL. Require http or https with a nonempty hostname; return hostnames in cell order.2

| Output field | Meaning | Value type |

} Limitations and assumptions
One invalid cell rejects the request. No public-suffix lookup, DNS resolution or reachability check is performed.
Supply the decoded cell strings or raw values declared by the input fields; this tool does not load a spreadsheet file. Malformed requests produce input errors. A successfully evaluated request can still contain false flags, empty result lists or a result outside the supplied threshold; those outcomes have the meanings stated above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Choose Unix Timestamp Column to ISO Datetime for this operation: Convert integer Unix timestamp cells in explicit seconds or milliseconds to UTC ISO datetimes with millisecond precision, limited to years 0001 through 9999. For a complementary task, use Filter Rows Column Equals Value for this operation: Keep CSV data records whose selected zero-based column exactly equals a supplied decoded string, preserving an explicit header and original record order.
