Phone Digits Normalizer E.164-Lite
Strip ASCII phone punctuation and prepend an explicit country code when + is absent, requiring a nonzero-leading maximum of 15 digits; no allocation or national trunk-prefix validation is performed.
Description
A phone number stored as text can contain spaces, parentheses or hyphens that hinder comparison.
A phone number stored as text can contain spaces, parentheses or hyphens that hinder comparison. A leading plus distinguishes a supplied international number from a local token to which this tool prepends the caller's country code.1

When to use Phone Digits Normalizer E.164-Lite
Use this tool to strip ASCII phone punctuation and prepend an explicit country code when + is absent, requiring a nonzero-leading maximum of 15 digits; no allocation or national trunk-prefix validation is performed.
Choose the original CSV text, decoded cell strings, byte values or counts requested by this tool. Use the stated delimiter, encoding, indexing and number/date convention.
How to use Phone Digits Normalizer E.164-Lite and understand its results
- Choose the original CSV text, decoded cell strings, byte values or counts requested by this tool. Use the stated delimiter, encoding, indexing and number/date convention.
- Enter values, countryCode using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read values. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| values | Values | list of string; maximum length: 10000; minimum entries: 0; maximum entries: 10000 | Required |
| countryCode | Country code | string; maximum length: 3 | Required |
Enter cell strings and a one-to-three-digit countryCode beginning with 1–9. After trimming each cell, the tool permits ASCII digits, plus, parentheses, period, space, tab and hyphen, then removes the permitted punctuation. A leading plus prevents country-code prepending; otherwise the country code is prepended. The resulting token must contain only digits, begin nonzero and contain at most 15 digits. One invalid cell causes a cell-specific input error for the whole request.
normalized = '+' + digits; digit count must be 1…15 with a nonzero first digit Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

} Limitations and assumptions
This is syntactic E.164-style cleanup, not a numbering-plan validator. It does not remove national trunk zeros, recognize an international 00 prefix, accept extensions or Unicode digits, or verify that a number is assigned or reachable.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Cell-string lists also have a combined text budget of 100,000 UTF-16 units per list. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Column Type Inference From Sample: Infer empty, integer, decimal, or string from a column sample using ASCII decimal token syntax; blanks are ignored and leading-zero identifiers remain strings. For a complementary task, use ID Column Uniqueness Check: Check exact string ID uniqueness in a supplied column, treating empty strings and leading zeros literally; report indices of occurrences after each first occurrence.
