Vacuum Absolute Gauge Gap Tool

Calculate vacuum absolute gauge gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Compare supplied absolute pressure with a gauge-plus-ambient estimate.

Cryogenic engineering calculations require compatible pressure, temperature, material and geometry conventions. A local heat-load, composition or contraction term assumes supplied properties and does not establish a safe system or complete thermodynamic state.

Compare supplied absolute pressure with a gauge-plus-ambient estimate.

When to use this tool

Use Vacuum Absolute Gauge Gap when checking one supplied cryogenic measurement, material or load contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter gaugePressure, ambientPressure, measuredAbsolute. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expectedAbsolute, residual. Use the output convention below.

Compare supplied absolute pressure with a gauge-plus-ambient estimate. Require nonnegative ambient/measuredAbsolute and gauge+ambient >= 0; expectedAbsolute is their sum and residual = measuredAbsolute-expected.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
gaugePressureSigned gauge pressure relative to the supplied ambient pressure, in a common pressure unit.Required. Finite number.
ambientPressureAmbient PressureRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
measuredAbsoluteMeasured AbsoluteRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
expectedAbsoluteExpected AbsoluteRequired. Finite number.
residualSigned difference in the direction defined above, using the same units as its compared quantities.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use matching pressure units; gauge readings may be negative, and vacuum-system safety is not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified material properties and a complete qualified engineering assessment for practical cryogenic design, handling and operation.
