Liquid Level Calibration Two Point Fraction

Apply a supplied two-point linear liquid-level signal calibration without clipping extrapolated fractions or converting to volume.

Description

Calculate a supplied two-point level-calibration fraction.

Cryogenic calculations require explicit absolute-pressure and temperature bases, density conditions, inventory boundaries and calibration spans. Level signals need not equal volume, nominal input energy differs from cooling delivered, and apparent loss is an accounting residual. Supplied terms do not establish actual equipment condition or safe low-temperature operation.

Calculate a supplied two-point level-calibration fraction.

When to use this tool

Use Liquid Level Calibration Two Point Fraction when you already have signal, emptySignal, fullSignal and need to calculate a supplied two-point level-calibration fraction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter signal, emptySignal, fullSignal. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read levelFraction. Use the output convention below.

Require fullSignal!=emptySignal; return (signal-empty)/(full-empty).1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
signalSignalRequired. Finite number.
emptySignalEmpty SignalRequired. Finite number.
fullSignalFull SignalRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
levelFraction(signal-empty)/(full-empty); reversed calibration and extrapolation accepted. Extreme endpoint subtraction can overflow to a misleading zero; rescale first.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Descending calibration signals and fractions outside [0,1] are accepted. No tank geometry, level, liquid volume, calibration validity or safe fill limit is established. Extreme endpoint subtraction can overflow and produce a misleading zero; rescale consistent units first.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified instrument and inventory records with the complete thermophysical and equipment model. Include actual state, geometry, heat transfer, venting and operating limits when local calibration fractions, mean mass flows or nominal volumes cannot answer the engineering question.
