Description
Return mole fraction, mass fraction and mean molar mass of a two-component mixture.
Cryogenic engineering calculations require compatible pressure, temperature, material and geometry conventions. A local heat-load, composition or contraction term assumes supplied properties and does not establish a safe system or complete thermodynamic state.
Return mole fraction, mass fraction and mean molar mass of a two-component mixture.
When to use this tool
Use Helium Mixture Molar Fraction Term when checking one supplied cryogenic measurement, material or load contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstMoles, secondMoles, firstMolarMass, secondMolarMass. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read firstMoleFraction, firstMassFraction, meanMolarMass. Use the output convention below.
Return mole fraction, mass fraction and mean molar mass of a two-component mixture. Require nonnegative mole amounts with positive sum and positive molar masses; weight by moles for average and by mole-times-molar-mass for mass share.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstMoles | First Moles | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| secondMoles | Second Moles | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| firstMolarMass | Positive first-component mass per mole, in the same units as secondMolarMass. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| secondMolarMass | Second Molar Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| firstMoleFraction | First Mole Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| firstMassFraction | First Mass Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| meanMolarMass | Mole-fraction-weighted mean molar mass, in the input molar-mass units. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This ideal composition calculation does not identify phases, isotope purity or cryogenic operating properties.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
