Description
Return a signed conductive heat-flow term.
Cryogenic measurements and budgets depend on the fluid state, absolute temperatures and pressure reference, as well as compatible units. Local mass, heat or ideal-gas terms describe a supplied model without determining actual material properties or safe equipment operation.
Return a signed conductive heat-flow term.
When to use this tool
Use Cold Stage Heat Leak Term when checking a supplied cryogenic measurement, reference-state conversion or engineering budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter thermalConductance, hotTemperature, coldTemperature. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read heatFlow. Use the output convention below.
Return a signed conductive heat-flow term. Require nonnegative thermalConductance and temperatures; heatFlow = conductance*(hotTemperature-coldTemperature), without requiring the named hot temperature to be larger.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| thermalConductance | Thermal Conductance | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| hotTemperature | Hot Temperature | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| coldTemperature | Cold Temperature | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| heatFlow | Signed conductance*(hot-cold); names do not enforce hot >= cold. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use W/K and compatible absolute temperatures for watts; the model omits temperature-dependent conductance, contacts and other heat paths.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
