Custody Event Entry Exit Day Count

Count an explicitly recorded custody-date interval under a supplied endpoint convention without calculating a sentence or credit entitlement.

Description

Count supplied custody calendar days under an endpoint policy.

Justice records distinguish timestamps, civil dates, case references, hearing slots and document offsets. A calendar-day count depends on its endpoint policy, while a signed clock gap can be negative. Formatting a docket reference or comparing pseudonyms does not authenticate a case, identify a person or establish lawful disclosure.

Count supplied custody calendar days under an endpoint policy.

When to use this tool

Use Custody Event Entry Exit Day Count when you already have entryDate, exitDate, countBothDates and need to count supplied custody calendar days under an endpoint policy.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter entryDate, exitDate, countBothDates. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read elapsedDays, countedDates. Use the output convention below.

Parse real UTC YYYY-MM-DD entry/exit dates, require exit>=entry, return elapsed days and elapsed+(countBothDates?1:0).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The same date gives zero elapsed days or one counted date. No legal detention, sentence credit, jurisdictional day rule or actual event is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the original custody, court, service and document records alongside the applicable rules. Verify clock alignment, calendar conventions and permissions before using local counts or labels in a real proceeding.
