Description
Convert comoving length into physical length at redshift.
Cosmological redshift relates emitted and observed scales through a declared normalization. Density components, lengths and temperatures follow different model-dependent powers of the expansion factor, so matching symbols or dimensions does not make their physical meanings interchangeable.
Convert comoving length into physical length at redshift.
When to use this tool
Use Comoving Physical Length Redshift Factor when evaluating the stated redshift scaling under its explicit normalization and component assumptions.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter comovingLength, redshift. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read physicalLength, scaleFactor. Use the output convention below.
Convert comoving length into physical length at redshift. Require comovingLength >= 0 and z > -1; scaleFactor = 1/(1+z), physicalLength = comovingLength*factor.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| comovingLength | Comoving Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| redshift | Dimensionless redshift z; the stated scaling formulas require z > -1. | Required. Finite number; strictly above -1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| physicalLength | Physical Length | Required. Finite number. |
| scaleFactor | Scale Factor | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This uses present-day normalization one and matching length units; no angular or line-of-sight distance is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
