Description
Return particle-number areal density from charge density.
Signed and complex response quantities require an explicit convention as well as compatible units. A reciprocal, density change or loss magnitude can preserve algebra while the physical sign, frequency dependence and material interpretation remain separate questions.
Return particle-number areal density from charge density.
When to use this tool
Use Surface Charge Number Density Crosswalk when converting the stated signed, complex or response-property basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter chargePerArea, particleCharge. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read particlesPerArea. Use the output convention below.
Return particle-number areal density from charge density. Require particleCharge != 0; particlesPerArea = chargePerArea/particleCharge.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| chargePerArea | Charge Per Area | Required. Finite number. |
| particleCharge | Particle Charge | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| particlesPerArea | Particles Per Area | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Charge units must match; signed inputs can yield a negative algebraic result rather than a physically verified particle count.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the applicable SI/cgs, complex-phase and material-response conventions; use full tensor or frequency-dependent models where scalar relations are insufficient.
