Description
Return surface tension from force and wetted length.
A physical ratio such as pressure head, viscosity, interface tension or mesh opening assumes supplied material properties and geometry. Its units can be consistent even when the model omits important interfaces, temperature effects or actual shape.
Return surface tension from force and wetted length.
When to use this tool
Use Dynamic Surface Tension Force Per Length when checking the stated fluid-property or geometric conversion.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter force, wettedLength. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read tension. Use the output convention below.
Return surface tension from force and wetted length. Require force >= 0 and wettedLength > 0; tension = force/wettedLength.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| force | Force | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| wettedLength | Wetted Length | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| tension | Tension | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Newtons and metres give N/m; the effective wetted length must already incorporate the measurement geometry and interface count.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
