Drawing Revision Prefix Order Tool

Build a revision ordering key from a supplied prefix order, without interpreting project issue status.

Description

Return a drawing prefix's supplied rank and revision number.

Construction bookkeeping distinguishes installed, accepted, credited and reworked quantities, as well as contractual cost and schedule conventions. A local variance or budget term can expose a gap without verifying work quality, payment entitlement or the project critical path.

Return a drawing prefix's supplied rank and revision number.

When to use this tool

Use Drawing Revision Prefix Order when checking a supplied construction quantity, charge, record or schedule convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter prefix, number, suppliedPrefixes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read prefixRank, revisionNumber. Use the output convention below.

Return a drawing prefix's supplied rank and revision number. Require nonnegative whole number, unique suppliedPrefixes and a recognized prefix; prefixRank is its zero-based index.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The vocabulary and order are supplied, not an industry revision standard or evidence that a drawing is current.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified project records, a complete schedule and governing contracts; involve qualified construction, engineering or legal professionals for practical decisions.
