Restoration Plot Revisit Gap Tool

Calculate restoration plot revisit gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Compare plot revisit timing with a target and tolerance.

Conservation monitoring depends on survey effort, detection assumptions, area/time bases and explicit unknown-status policies. A local probability or coverage ratio describes supplied observations and models without establishing population abundance, ecological success or legal protection.

Compare plot revisit timing with a target and tolerance.

When to use this tool

Use Restoration Plot Revisit Gap when checking a supplied conservation-monitoring, geometry or evidence-basis convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstVisitDate, revisitDate, targetIntervalDays, allowedToleranceDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read elapsedDays, intervalGap, insideSuppliedTolerance. Inspect insideSuppliedTolerance before interpreting the associated values.

Compare plot revisit timing with a target and tolerance. Validate real date-only strings and nonnegative whole target/tolerance days; elapsedDays is UTC difference/86400000, intervalGap = elapsed-target, insideSuppliedTolerance includes equality.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Signed revisit gaps are allowed; Gregorian elapsed days and supplied tolerance do not establish an appropriate ecological monitoring schedule.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate ecological sampling and detection model, verified field records and actual habitat geometry for substantive conservation inference.
