Yee Grid Staggered Coordinate Offset Tool

One supplied stagger fraction along a Yee-grid axis; component-specific staggering is chosen by the caller.

Description

Return one staggered-grid coordinate.

Numerical grids and sampled modes require explicit coordinate, boundary and sign conventions. A staggered location, minimum-image gap or Nyquist label is one component of a discretization rather than a complete field solve or unique physical interpretation.

Return one staggered-grid coordinate.

When to use this tool

Use Yee Grid Staggered Coordinate Offset when checking the stated grid-coordinate, periodic-image or sampled-mode convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter index, spacing, origin, staggerFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read coordinate. Use the output convention below.

Return one staggered-grid coordinate. Require spacing > 0 and staggerFraction in [0,1]; coordinate = origin+(index+staggerFraction)*spacing.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
indexPosition under the explicit indexing convention; inspect any missing-value sentinel.Required. Safe integer.
spacingSpacingRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
originOriginRequired. Finite number.
staggerFractionStagger FractionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
coordinateCoordinateRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The stagger convention and coordinate units are supplied; no Yee-grid field allocation or complete electromagnetic mesh is validated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete mesh, transform convention and boundary conditions for a consistent numerical simulation or physical interpretation.
