Lattice Population One Migration Balance Tool

Calculate lattice population one migration balance from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Balance migration, births and deaths in one lattice population.

Computational biology distinguishes discrete counts, probabilistic weights, sequence indexes and logical rules. A supplied event or record flag can be summarized without simulating a stochastic process, validating a sequence annotation or establishing a biological mechanism.

Balance migration, births and deaths in one lattice population.

When to use this tool

Use Lattice Population One Migration Balance when checking the stated count, sequence, Boolean-rule or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter population, arrivals, departures, births, deaths. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netMigration, nextPopulation. Use the output convention below.

Balance migration, births and deaths in one lattice population. Require nonnegative whole inputs, departures <= initial population and deaths <= post-migration-plus-births; nextPopulation = initial+arrivals-departures+births-deaths.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Events and ordering are supplied; no migration process, spatial diffusion or stochastic sampling is simulated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete sequence, identifier universe or stochastic/logical model for actual inference, sampling and uncertainty analysis.
