Compartment Transfer One Timestep Term Tool

One nonnegative explicit Euler transfer between closed compartments with conserved total amount.

Loading tool…

Description

Apply one bounded source-to-target transfer step.

Biological balance models use signed changes, conserved weights, compartment amounts and spatial conventions. A local term can preserve a supplied bookkeeping identity while the actual reactions, volumes, boundary conditions and biological interpretation still require a complete model.

Apply one bounded source-to-target transfer step.

When to use this tool

Use Compartment Transfer One Timestep Term when checking one supplied biological balance, compartment or grid contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter sourceAmount, targetAmount, transferRate, step. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read transferred, nextSource, nextTarget. Use the output convention below.

Apply one bounded source-to-target transfer step. Require nonnegative amounts/rate/step and rate*step <= 1; transferred = source*rate*step, nextSource = source-transferred, nextTarget = target+transferred.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This forward step conserves the supplied amount and omits other flows, changing volumes and a complete kinetic model.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete dimensionally consistent reaction/transport model with verified parameters and suitable numerical methods for biological predictions.
