Description
Return volunteer-slot slack and overbooking.
Community projects combine participation counts, access assertions, funding bases and shared-resource policies. Local allocation or coverage arithmetic can organize those records, while equitable access, actual contribution value and valid funding rights require evidence and the applicable rules.
Return volunteer-slot slack and overbooking.
When to use this tool
Use Volunteer Slot Capacity Slack when checking one explicit community-project capacity, funding, access or scheduling convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter capacity, assigned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read slack, overbooked. Inspect overbooked before interpreting the associated values.
Return volunteer-slot slack and overbooking. Require nonnegative whole capacity/assigned; slack = capacity-assigned, overbooked means assigned > capacity.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| capacity | Capacity | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| assigned | Assigned | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| slack | Slack | Required. Safe integer. |
| overbooked | Overbooked | Required. Boolean. |
{
"input": {
"capacity": 12,
"assigned": 10
},
"output": {
"slack": 2,
"overbooked": false
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative slack is retained; qualifications, attendance, access needs and safe staffing are not verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use actual project records, participant needs and governing funding/resource rules to assess practical adequacy, fairness and eligibility.
