Medicine Label Strength Unit Pair Tool

Preserve explicit label unit bases while computing a numerical strength ratio.

Loading tool…

Description

Return labeled strength on a supplied numerator/denominator basis.

A medicine label expresses an amount on a particular mass, volume or other quantity basis. Ratios are meaningful only when numerator, denominator and active-component conventions match; a supplied conversion or fraction does not establish medicine equivalence or an appropriate dose.

Return labeled strength on a supplied numerator/denominator basis.

When to use this tool

Use Medicine Label Strength Unit Pair when checking the stated medicine-label amount, unit or component-basis convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter amount, numeratorUnit, denominator, denominatorUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read strength, unitPair. Use the output convention below.

Return labeled strength on a supplied numerator/denominator basis. Require amount >= 0, denominator > 0 and nonempty unit labels; strength = amount/denominator, unitPair serializes both labels.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Labels are not converted or cross-validated; this is not a recommended dose, route or safe medicine instruction.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the original label, ingredient identity and source edition with a qualified pharmacist; use verified unit conversion and clinical assessment for any actual medicine decision.
