Description
Split customer loss into supplied churn categories.
Business timing and cohort summaries depend on event origins, bucket boundaries and the treatment of incomplete records. A time difference or bucket label is a supplied record convention rather than proof of customer behavior, completed service or future retention.
Split customer loss into supplied churn categories.
When to use this tool
Use Customer Churn Involuntary Voluntary Split when checking the stated business timing or cohort convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startingCustomers, voluntary, involuntary, otherLosses. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read totalLost, churnRate, voluntaryRate, involuntaryRate. Use the output convention below.
Split customer loss into supplied churn categories. Require positive whole startingCustomers, nonnegative loss counts and total losses <= starting; totalLost sums categories, churnRate divides total and component rates divide voluntary/involuntary by start.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startingCustomers | Starting Customers | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| voluntary | Voluntary | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| involuntary | Involuntary | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| otherLosses | Other Losses | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| totalLost | Total Lost | Required. Safe integer. |
| churnRate | Churn Rate | Required. Finite number. |
| voluntaryRate | Voluntary Rate | Required. Finite number. |
| involuntaryRate | Involuntary Rate | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Loss categories are assumed disjoint and cohort-consistent; no entity records, reactivation or causes of churn are verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use complete event records and a defined cohort/period policy; evaluate commercial performance and uncertainty with appropriate complete analyses.
