Expense Policy Threshold Gap Tool

Calculate expense policy threshold gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Compare eligible expense with a supplied threshold.

Administrative records encode delegated authority, invoice lines, reimbursement bases and supplied policy limits. Literal matches and amount allocations can reconcile asserted records while actual authority, eligibility, rights and accounting treatment depend on verified documents and applicable rules.

Compare eligible expense with a supplied threshold.

When to use this tool

Use Expense Policy Threshold Gap when checking the stated administrative authority, invoice or expense convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter expense, reimbursableFraction, suppliedThreshold, includeEquality. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleAmount, margin, thresholdReached. Inspect thresholdReached before interpreting the associated values.

Compare eligible expense with a supplied threshold. Require nonnegative expense/threshold and reimbursableFraction in [0,1]; eligibleAmount = expense*fraction, margin = eligible-threshold, thresholdReached uses the selected equality policy.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • A reached threshold is a local predicate, not a reimbursement entitlement, policy approval or tax determination.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the governing policy, authorization and financial records; involve the appropriate administrative, financial or legal professional for actual rights and payment decisions.
