Description
Return retained split volume and its original-volume share.
Laboratory quantities depend on sample volume, concentration basis, blank correction, geometry and calibration. A dilution, recovery fraction or signal correction evaluates a supplied measurement model without validating the assay, identifying a substance or establishing biological or clinical performance.
Return retained split volume and its original-volume share.
When to use this tool
Use Sample Split Retention Share when checking the stated laboratory bookkeeping, signal, sample or measurement convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter originalVolume, splitVolumes, retainedMask. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read retainedVolume, share. Use the output convention below.
Return retained split volume and its original-volume share. Require originalVolume > 0, aligned nonnegative splitVolumes/retainedMask and total splits <= original; sum retained splits, divide by original volume.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| originalVolume | Original Volume | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| splitVolumes | Split Volumes | Required. Array of finite number; minimum 0; maximum items 256. |
| retainedMask | Retained Mask | Required. Array of boolean; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| retainedVolume | Retained Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| share | Dimensionless numerator/denominator ratio under the explicit basis above. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Unallocated volume remains in the denominator; no split accuracy, sample quality or actual retention procedure is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified sample records, calibrated equipment and an appropriate validated measurement method; assess uncertainty and practical laboratory conditions independently.
