Nomenclature Type Status Code

Qualify an explicit nomenclatural type-status code by source without assigning type status.

Description

Qualify an explicit nomenclatural type-status code by source.

Taxonomic records preserve author wording, publication sources, parent assignments and nomenclatural context. Parenthesizing an author is a formatting choice, and a supplied year field need not be restricted to modern calendar years. A source-qualified relationship does not establish accepted classification, valid publication or identity.

Qualify an explicit nomenclatural type-status code by source.

When to use this tool

Use Nomenclature Type Status Code when you already have specimenId, suppliedTypeCode, codeSource and need to qualify an explicit nomenclatural type-status code by source.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter specimenId, suppliedTypeCode, codeSource. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Enter specimenId, suppliedTypeCode, codeSource using the field constraints below. Encode these values, in exactly that order, as a JSON array and return the serialized array as text in token. String values are preserved without trimming or external terminology lookup.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The result records supplied values without assigning type status. Sources and asserted relationships are not independently authenticated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the relevant specimens, original publications and controlled nomenclatural sources. Use complete taxonomic evidence and applicable codes for a classification decision; local formatting and keys do not adjudicate names or relationships.
