Inspection Action Age Tool

Inspect supplied generic inspection-action timestamps without assessing biosafety conditions.

Description

Return inspection-action age with a conditional closure age.

Laboratory-safety administration tracks inspection records, equipment counts, training coverage and supplied policy limits. A local balance or current-status flag can reveal a record gap while actual equipment condition, training competence and adequate protection require independent verification.

Return inspection-action age with a conditional closure age.

When to use this tool

Use Inspection Action Age when checking the stated laboratory-safety record, timing, capacity or inventory convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter openedDay, checkedDay, closedDay, closedKnown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read ageAtCheck, closedAgeDefined, ageAtClosure. Inspect closedAgeDefined before interpreting the associated values.

Return inspection-action age with a conditional closure age. Require closedDay >= openedDay only when closedKnown; ageAtCheck = checked-opened, closedAgeDefined mirrors flag and ageAtClosure = closed-opened when known, otherwise a zero placeholder.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Check age may be negative; zero unknown closure age is not evidence of instant completion or adequate corrective action.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect actual equipment and verified records under the applicable procedures; use qualified risk assessment and professional judgment to determine adequate protection and actual authorization.
