Description
Return lost-contact duration during a drill with censoring metadata.
Laboratory-safety administration tracks inspection records, equipment counts, training coverage and supplied policy limits. A local balance or current-status flag can reveal a record gap while actual equipment condition, training competence and adequate protection require independent verification.
Return lost-contact duration during a drill with censoring metadata.
When to use this tool
Use Biosafety Drill Lostcontact Reconnect Gap when checking the stated laboratory-safety record, timing, capacity or inventory convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter lostAt, reconnectAt, exerciseEnd, reconnected. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read gap, rightCensored, remainingExercise. Inspect rightCensored before interpreting the associated values.
Return lost-contact duration during a drill with censoring metadata. Require exerciseEnd >= lostAt and, when reconnected, reconnectAt inside that interval; gap ends at reconnect or exercise end, rightCensored = not reconnected, remainingExercise is residual only when reconnected.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| lostAt | Lost At | Required. Finite number. |
| reconnectAt | Reconnect At | Required. Finite number. |
| exerciseEnd | Exercise End | Required. Finite number. |
| reconnected | Reconnected | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| gap | Signed difference under the stated comparison convention, with matching units. | Required. Finite number. |
| rightCensored | Right Censored | Required. Boolean. |
| remainingExercise | Zero placeholder when reconnection was not observed; gap is then censored at exerciseEnd. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Zero remaining time when censored is a placeholder; no actual incident, communications failure or response effectiveness is evaluated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect actual equipment and verified records under the applicable procedures; use qualified risk assessment and professional judgment to determine adequate protection and actual authorization.
