Contaminant Mass Sample Factor Tool

Compute an explicit compatible sample mass contribution without organism selection or remediation instructions.

Description

Return contaminant mass from a sample-mass concentration.

Environmental-remediation bookkeeping uses explicit water, soil, dry-mass, concentration and sampling bases. A local mass residual, censored-result bound or supplied target margin does not identify a removal mechanism, establish representativeness or determine an environmentally acceptable contaminant level.

Return contaminant mass from a sample-mass concentration.

When to use this tool

Use Contaminant Mass Sample Factor when checking the stated remediation measurement, mass/volume balance or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter concentration, sampleMass, unitFactor. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read contaminantMass. Use the output convention below.

Return contaminant mass from a sample-mass concentration. Require concentration/sampleMass >= 0 and unitFactor > 0; contaminantMass = concentration*sampleMass*factor.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor must reconcile mass-fraction units, such as mg/kg versus kg; analytical accuracy and hazard/compliance are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified sampling and analytical data, consistent material/unit bases and a complete transport or treatment model; involve qualified environmental professionals for practical or regulatory decisions.
