Template Length Unit Factor Tool

Compute a supplied template storage length; no biometric data is generated or interpreted.

Description

Return exact template storage bytes.

Biometric research records separate subject IDs, template dimensions, image geometry, enrollment support and attempt budgets. Local counts and comparisons can reveal inconsistencies without reading biometric templates, detecting a physical trait or authenticating a person’s identity.

Return exact template storage bytes.

When to use this tool

Use Template Length Unit Factor when checking the stated biometric record, count, support, geometry or budget convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter length, bytesPerUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read bytesDecimal. Use the output convention below.

Return exact template storage bytes. Require nonnegative whole length and whole bytesPerUnit >= 1; bytesDecimal is their BigInt product rendered as decimal text.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a storage-count convention, not a template format validator, biometric quality metric or actual memory allocation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified acquisition/enrollment records and the complete appropriate format and evaluation process for actual identity, quality, capacity or privacy decisions.
