Biometric Attempt Retry Count Budget Tool

Calculate biometric attempt retry count budget from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return a combined initial/retry attempt allowance.

Biometric research records separate subject IDs, template dimensions, image geometry, enrollment support and attempt budgets. Local counts and comparisons can reveal inconsistencies without reading biometric templates, detecting a physical trait or authenticating a person’s identity.

Return a combined initial/retry attempt allowance.

When to use this tool

Use Biometric Attempt Retry Count Budget when checking the stated biometric record, count, support, geometry or budget convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter attempts, allowedInitial, allowedRetries, successfulAt, success. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read allowed, remaining, exceeded, successInsideBudget. Inspect exceeded, successInsideBudget before interpreting the associated values.

Return a combined initial/retry attempt allowance. Require nonnegative whole counts and successfulAt within attempts; allowed sums budgets, remaining floors at zero, exceeded is strict, successInsideBudget requires success and successfulAt <= allowed.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
attemptsAttemptsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
allowedInitialAllowed InitialRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
allowedRetriesAllowed RetriesRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
successfulAtSuccessful AtRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
successSuccessRequired. Boolean.

allowedAllowedRequired. Safe integer.
remainingSigned allowance or deadline remainder under the explicit direction above; negative values indicate a supplied shortfall where allowed.Required. Safe integer.
exceededExceededRequired. Boolean.
successInsideBudgetSupplied success flag and successfulAt <= allowed, including successfulAt=0; no actual enrollment is verified.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Zero successfulAt is accepted; the flags describe supplied records rather than enforcing retry policy or authenticating enrollment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified acquisition/enrollment records and the complete appropriate format and evaluation process for actual identity, quality, capacity or privacy decisions.
