GTF Quoted Attribute Token

Format a single GTF name and quoted attribute value, rejecting quote, backslash and line-control characters instead of inventing an escape dialect.

Description

Format one supplied GTF-style quoted attribute.

Sequence formats distinguish coordinate origins, included endpoints, allele separators and identifier grammars. A genomic interbase position differs from a base number, and a parsed optional-field value may still violate its declared type. Local token checks preserve representation without validating a complete file, sequence, reference assembly or biological interpretation.

Format one supplied GTF-style quoted attribute.

When to use this tool

Use GTF Quoted Attribute Token when you already have attributeName, valueText and need to format one supplied GTF-style quoted attribute.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter attributeName, valueText. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read attributeToken. Use the output convention below.

Require an ASCII letter/underscore name followed by letters/digits/underscores. Reject double quotes, backslashes, C0 controls and DEL in valueText, then output name, space, double-quoted value and semicolon.1

GTF annotation attributes use key/value entries with quoted values and semicolon delimiters. One formatted attribute does not establish a valid feature record or satisfy all required annotation fields.2

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

valueTextLiteral attribute value without double quote, backslash, C0 controls or DEL; rejected characters are not escaped.Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

attributeTokenAttribute TokenRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The value can be empty. This restricted formatter does not escape rejected characters or validate required attributes, coordinates, annotation biology or a complete GTF feature.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete applicable file specification and a full format validator for conformance. Verify reference assembly, sequence bounds, annotation and database context before interpreting local fields or coordinate transformations.
