Research Burden One Way Travel Time

Calculate explicit travel-time burden using a supplied one-way duration, return factor, and visit count.

Description

Estimate supplied research travel time over a visit count.

Research records distinguish a participant's stated preference, a recorded permission assertion, version dates and professional roles. A label does not authenticate consent or authority, while travel minutes and compensation shares capture only selected aspects of burden or payment. Ethical interpretation requires the surrounding circumstances and evidence.

Estimate supplied research travel time over a visit count.

When to use this tool

Use Research Burden One Way Travel Time when you already have oneWayMinutes, returnMultiplier, visitCount and need to estimate supplied research travel time over a visit count.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter oneWayMinutes, returnMultiplier, visitCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalTravelMinutes. Use the output convention below.

Require oneWayMinutes>=0, returnMultiplier>=0 and visitCount a nonnegative safe whole count; multiply all three.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The return multiplier is supplied rather than fixed at two. This nominal travel total excludes unsupplied waiting, access barriers, visit duration, actual burden and ethical acceptability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review original consent, preference, version and role records with the applicable oversight process. Evaluate understanding, voluntariness, scope and actual circumstances rather than treating a local flag, date gap or financial fraction as an ethical determination.
