Participant Burden Interval Sum Tool

Sum supplied additive research-activity durations, not a validated burden score.

Loading tool…

Description

Return weighted repeated-duration total.

Participant time, compensation and renewal timing depend on explicit assumptions about visits, expenses, comprehension and applicable rules. A supplied rate or elapsed-time threshold can support bookkeeping while fair compensation, accessibility and valid consent require a broader contextual assessment.

Return weighted repeated-duration total.

When to use this tool

Use Participant Burden Interval Sum when checking the stated research payment, burden, reading-time or renewal convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter durations, repetitions. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalDuration. Use the output convention below.

Return weighted repeated-duration total. Require aligned duration/repetition arrays with nonnegative durations and whole repetitions; totalDuration is their dot product.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Repetitions must be nonnegative whole counts; overlapping activities, actual burden and ethical adequacy are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use participant-centered evidence and the original protocol and consent process; review payment, accessibility and renewal choices with the responsible ethics and professional teams.
