Description
Return cylindrical scaffold volume, area and area/volume ratio.
Biological engineering calculations combine supplied geometry, material properties, transport and quantity bases. An ideal channel resistance, scaffold fraction or thermal time scale can be dimensionally consistent without establishing real process conditions, safe exposure or biological performance.
Return cylindrical scaffold volume, area and area/volume ratio.
When to use this tool
Use Scaffold Surface Volume Cylinder Term when checking the stated benign geometry, transport, phantom or material-basis term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter radius, length, includeEnds. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read volume, area, areaPerVolume. Use the output convention below.
Return cylindrical scaffold volume, area and area/volume ratio. Require positive radius/length; volume = pi*r²*length, area = 2*pi*r*length plus two end faces when includeEnds, ratio = 2/r plus 2/length when included.1

| includeEnds | Include Ends | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| volume | Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| area | Area | Required. Finite number. |
| areaPerVolume | Area Per Volume | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This treats a smooth solid cylinder, not a porous network or a complete scaffold performance model.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified properties, calibration and the complete applicable engineering model; assess actual laboratory/device conditions and biological suitability separately.
