Scaffold Pore Volume Deficit Tool

Compare measured bench pore volume with an explicit target, without tissue or material recommendations.

Description

Return measured porosity and a supplied target pore-volume deficit.

Biological engineering calculations combine supplied geometry, material properties, transport and quantity bases. An ideal channel resistance, scaffold fraction or thermal time scale can be dimensionally consistent without establishing real process conditions, safe exposure or biological performance.

Return measured porosity and a supplied target pore-volume deficit.

When to use this tool

Use Scaffold Pore Volume Deficit when checking the stated benign geometry, transport, phantom or material-basis term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measuredPoreVolume, scaffoldVolume, suppliedTargetPorosity. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read porosity, targetPoreVolume, deficit. Use the output convention below.

Return measured porosity and a supplied target pore-volume deficit. Require positive scaffold volume, pore volume within it and target porosity in [0,1]; deficit = volume*target-measuredPoreVolume.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative deficit means pore volume exceeds the supplied target; target suitability and actual geometry are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified properties, calibration and the complete applicable engineering model; assess actual laboratory/device conditions and biological suitability separately.
